Friday’s Tribeca/Mustang Update

Today’s update from Will Parrinello, from Mill Valley Film Group. Will is screening his new movie, Mustang-Journey of Transformation at the Tribeca Film Festival this week. Original story and trailer here.

Will writes:

It’s been a whirlwind of social activity here with parties every night until 2am. Luckily, the festival wisely doesn’t seem to plan anything of note before noon.

We had our second sold out screening yesterday and it was another great audience. The festival was particularly thrilled because the screening was at 1:15pm on a Thursday, so we’re really turning out the crowds. We have another sold out screening tonight at 8:45 and Sunday at 3:30.

Last night my cousin and composer Steve Messina and his band Blow Up Hollywood performed music inspired by their score for the film at the Anthology Film Archive. They were joined by two of NYC’s top Tibetan monk musicians and they all performed to stylized images from the film, projected behind the band. It was transforming. Sadly, there were no pictures.

I guess that’s what Will gets for living in the moment. No pix, but a good moment indeed.

Mustang-Journey of Transformation screens next at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco on May 9. Info here.
